Golf is one of the most expensive sports to play. While a soccer ball or basketball can be bought for only a few dollars, even a beginner golf club sets start at a few hundred dollars. That doesn't even include the bag, shoes, clothes, and green fees.
For golf enthusiasts, the prices only increase. Adding hybrids, putters, drivers, and wedges to your bag
can tack on more than $300 per club.
Although golf can be an expensive sport, it is still one of the most popular. The popularity of golf combined with the value of clubs makes them a gold mine for pawn shops. If you have golf clubs that are gathering dust, or you need a little extra cash to make it to payday, use these tips to get the most out of your golf clubs.
Just like your wife's handbag, brand name is everything in golf. If you purchased no-name gold clubs for $200 at your local sports store, they aren't going to be worth much to a pawn shop owner. However, if you have Titleist, Callaway, Wilson, or Nike golf clubs, you may have some negotiating power in your bag.
When you come to our Pawn Shop in Salt Lake City, we do our best to know the ins and outs of our items, but understand that we can't be experts on everything. Come prepared! Collect as much info as you can. If your clubs are valuable, let us know why.
Bring documentation where necessary, or original receipts if you have them. Be sure to point out unique features,
and information on any customization you may have done such as re-gripping or re-shafting.
Of course, all per-owned clubs will have some wear and tear, which is to be expected.
Because of that the main focus is usually at the club head and shaft. Be sure your clubs are free from major chips, dents,
and the club heads are tight and secure. Cleaning golf clubs is easy to do with a bowl of warm soapy water and a toothbrush.
Scrub the clubs to remove dirt, oils, grass, and dust. This can take a pair of used golf clubs and make them shine like new.
It's hard for pawn shops in Utah to sell one driver or one putter. Typically, those shopping at our pawn shop, want the entire set. This means you will get more money if you offer a full golf set rather than trying to sell an individual golf club.
If you have a golf bag, best to throw that in as well. Be sure to clean the bag thoroughly and remove
any personal items, trash, receipts, etc.
If you are not quite ready to sell your used golf clubs, no problem. You can pawn your items for cash without selling them outright. Simply bring your clubs to the pawnshop as collateral for a small cash loan. Once the loan is repaid, you get your golf set back.
If you don't find what you're looking for here that doesn't mean that we don't have or accept it.
